On 20 November 2019, EU published a new directive (EU) 2019/1929, amending Appendix C to Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC for the purpose of adopting specific limit values for chemicals used in certain toys, as regards formaldehyde. According to the amendment, in Appendix C to Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC, the following entry is added:
Appendix C Specific limit values for chemicals used in toys intended for use by children under 36 months or in other toys intended to be placed in the mouth adopted in accordance with Article 46(2)
The amendment will come into effect on 20 May 2021.
