Requirements and correction factors for element migration limits in ISO 8124-3:2020:

Boron may exist in some sticky toys in the form of boric acid or borate, such as borax which is often used as a crosslinking agent to achieve the ductility and good hand feel of such toys. Borax has reproductive and developmental toxicity, and long-term exposure to toys containing borax will have an impact on children‘s endocrine system and reproductive health. EU toy standard EN71-3 has long required the migration of boron elements in toys, while other toy standards such as GB6675 and ASTM F963 have not yet put forward restrictions on boron elements.
